How the box is built

The body is cut from a single sheet of recyclable cardboard and creased for folding. You get a base, four walls, and a top closure that tucks or locks depending on the version. The stock runs in three colors, but the facing can be printed, hot stamped, embossed, or coated matte or gloss.

Edges are reinforced at the fold points. That matters because a collapsible box flexes every time it is assembled. Our control tolerance for foldable boxes is simple: creases must not crack, corners must sit at 90 degrees when erected, and the magnet or closure position, if used, is held to plus or minus 1 mm.

Bottle fit and checks

The box is sized for a single standard wine bottle. You can spec a different bottle shape, and we adjust the internal dimensions. The bottle should sit upright with no unsupported neck or shoulder. We check fit four ways: shake the closed box for 10 seconds and feel for movement, tilt it 45 degrees and watch for slide, invert it and confirm no release. If the bottle moves, the insert or the box size changes before production. For this foldable design, we also check that the bottle does not shift when the box is packed flat and then erected.

Yes, if you tell us the bottle dimensions before production. The standard version is sized for a single 750 ml bottle. For a magnum or a heavier bottle, we adjust the internal dimensions and may reinforce the base. Send us the bottle sample or dimensions and we will build the box to match.

How does the foldable design hold up in shipping?

The box ships flat, which reduces freight cost and the chance of damage in transit. Once erected, the reinforced edges hold the shape. Our in-house checks include a 1.2 m six-face drop test with a bottle loaded and a stacking top load of 40 kg or more for 24 hours. No internal movement is accepted.

Is the cardboard really recyclable?

Yes, the base board is recyclable cardboard. If you choose a plastic lamination or a foil finish, that layer must be separated before recycling. For a fully recyclable box, ask for a water based coating or no lamination. We can advise based on your print and finish requirements.
