Multi-Bottle and In-Store Packing

Load Capacity and Base Support

A still-wine bottle runs 1.2 to 1.8 kg filled. Champagne and heavy-based spirits exceed 2 kg. We set box load capacity at least twice the actual filled weight. That rule applies to wooden wine boxes and rigid-board alternatives in the range.

Bases need a reinforcing card, a double layer, or an EVA or moulded-pulp tray carrying the load. Lid-and-base and drawer formats are highest risk at the base, so we check the base construction before any visual detail. For multi-bottle wooden wine boxes, the base is not a styling decision.

Handle Reinforcement

Handle failure is the most common complaint on multi-bottle boxes. We add a folded-back paper layer at the handle position. That layer spreads the pull over a larger area and keeps the handle anchored when a filled box is lifted and carried. We apply it to multi-bottle and in-store packing designs.

Divider Orientation and Fit

For in-store assembly, the divider is where errors happen. Two fixes we build in: orientation arrows plus asymmetric locating tabs, so a reversed divider physically will not seat. Structure solves it, not training. That matters when store staff pack shelves during a busy retail or seasonal push.

Where a single box must take two bottle diameters, we put two fold positions on one divider and mark them A and B on the reverse. An operator flips to the correct fold for the bottle in hand. This removes the need to stock two divider versions for one SKU.

Window Position Check

Window position is verified against both bottle labels, not sized from one bottle type. On multi-bottle packs and windowed carriers, we work from the actual label placement of the bottles that will go inside. That avoids a window that lines up with one bottle and cuts across another.
