How the box is built
Over a rigid base, you have a leather body shaped to keep its profile on a shelf, but with surface give when you press it. The stitching runs along the edges, and that detail is what separates it from a printed cardboard box. The PVC window is set into the front panel, not taped on, so the sightline to the bottle stays clean from one edge to the other.
Because the clasp is metal and mounted on the front edge, it catches firmly if someone picks the box up by the handle, and the lid won't spring open. The leather handle is stitched into the top or side, depending on the structure we agree on, and the interior is lined so the bottle sits in a fitted insert. We apply the insert rule from our wooden wine boxes here: four contact points, with no unsupported neck or shoulder, and we settle on dimensions before the handle placement is fixed.
Bottle fit and carrying
When you send us the bottle sample or the exact measurements, we build the cavity around those numbers and cut the insert to your bottle dimensions. It's held at four points, so the neck and shoulder are never left unsupported and the fit doesn't depend on luck. Our control tolerance is plus or minus 1 mm for the insert, plus or minus 2 mm for the box body, and that keeps the bottle easy to lift while still snug. On a loaded sample before shipping, we run these in-house checks: shake it for 10 seconds, no movement. Tilt it 45 degrees, no slide. Invert it, no release. The handle, stitched to carry the full weight of the box plus bottle, is not a decorative strip.

Buyers who want the bottle to be seen are the fit here. On retail shelves, tasting room counters, duty-free displays, the PVC window does the work that a label cannot do from a closed box. It also suits collector gifting, where the recipient keeps the box as part of the presentation, and corporate orders with embossed logos work well because the leather takes a clean impression from your tooling. It's the wrong choice if you need stackable shipping packaging or a box that warehouse crews will throw around. Buyer questions
Can the PVC window be made larger to show the entire label?
Yes. Wider or taller, or a different shape, the window is cut to that specification. But the structural edge sets the border: we keep enough leather around the window so the front panel stays rigid after it's closed. With your label dimensions, we work out the maximum window for your bottle size and then tell you the safe cut line.
Is the leather handle strong enough for a full bottle?
Yes. We stitch the handle into the body, and glue never does enough where the hide ends meet the swatch. To test it, we load a box, lift it by the handle, and shake it while it's fully sealed. The handle carries the full weight of the box plus bottle without tearing off the stitching. For a longer handle for shoulder carry, adjusting the length is straightforward once we know how you carry it.
Will the embossed logo fade or crack over time?
Embossing on leather is permanent, and wear rarely makes it disappear the way print can flake. Sharp or faint fine lines may not show like bold shapes, so if your logo uses thin strokes, tell us before we tool it. We then adjust the pressure to get the best result for your artwork and what the surface can hold.
